This is a full-time, 24-month term position.
General Description:
Serve as an integral member of the brand communications management team at Shedd Aquarium by supporting.promotions and media manager with the negotiation and implementation of the annual media plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Field calls from and meet with media representatives. Negotiate all rates, special placement and added value by medium for all markets. Execute all media plans in the assigned group of markets within established budgets; buy media space and air time.
• Maintain all media buys and be responsible for the post-buy results of all buys. Document all negotiations, make-goods and credits. Monitor buys in progress by spot-checking placement and negotiating credit or billing adjustments when necessary. Track media expenditures to ensure agency and client budget compliance.
• Work with promotions and media manager and the marketing team to determine the annual media strategy. Stay current on trends in media and utilize that knowledge to ensure media strategies and plans are up-to-date.
• Access media database to research available options for media placement. Estimate, update and adjust all broadcast ratings per demographic, per quarter. Design optimum buys in terms of cost efficiency, goals delivery and vendor agreements.
• Serve as a key member of the brand communications team. Work closely with production coordinator and brand traffic assistant to ensure they are aware of creative specifications and deadlines for the entire plan.
• Perform other duties as needed.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in media buying and/or planning. Advertising agency experience is preferred.
• Motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills and a team player. Negotiation skills and strong mathematical skills required. Basic computer skill with Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as comfort level accessing and utilizing media buying databases.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
