This is a full-time, regular position.
General Description:
Delivers public programs, including youth, family and adult programs. Assists public program coordinators with program development, marketing and evaluation. Maintains supplies and equipment for public programs. Develops and maintains relationship with public program core volunteers.
Duties and Responsibilites:
• Develops curriculum for various on-site and off-site public programs.
• Teaches and/or facilitates on-site and off-site daytime, evening, weekend and overnight programs.
• Co-creates evaluation procedures and maintains collected data for all public programs.
• Supports marketing efforts for all public programs.
• Maintains resources and programming spaces and assists with ordering supplies, equipment and materials needed for programming.
• Supervises volunteers and part-time staff that work with any public programs.
• Participates in aquarium-wide and interdepartmental teams, projects, or meetings as needed.
• Maintains a current knowledge of education, science and conservation topics. Integrates nature, science and conservation content into public programs.
• Performs other duties as required.
Job Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree (B.S./B.A.) in science, education, or related field.
• Minimum one year's teaching experience in either a formal or informal setting.
• Ability to frequently work evenings and weekends, including overnight events.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must be willing to be trained to handle animals.
• Willingness to transport oneself for off-site programming.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record and insurance.
• Must have strong swimming skills.
• Must be able to do moderate to heavy lifting to transport equipment to program sites.
Preferred:
• Prior aquatic science teaching experience.
• Experience working with diverse audiences and age ranges.
• Prior snorkeling experience.
• CPR and first-aid certification.
• Prior experience with technology beyond basic computer skills.
