Press Filming Requests and Visits to Shedd
On-Site Media Requests
All members of the media covering a story related to Shedd Aquarium must contact Shedd’s Public Relations department to request interviews or filming access before admittance to the aquarium will be permitted. Press should contact Andrea Smalec, Vice President of Communications & Public Relations, Maggie Hassler, Coordinator of Communications & Public Relations, or Elise Waugh, Coordinator of Communications & Public Relations.
Team members are happy to accommodate members of the press with story development or assignment support including interview scheduling, filming access, parking, and security.
On Campus Media Policy: Members of the press must be escorted by a member of Shedd’s public relations team at all times while on campus.
Tripods and Flash/Lighting: Typically tripods are not allowed in the aquarium. However, tripods are allowed to be used by members of the press, as long as a member of the public relations staff is present during the media’s time in the aquarium.
For the health and well-being of our animals, flash and heavy lighting are not allowed in certain areas and exhibits of the aquarium. Lighting and use of flash must be discussed with a member of the public relations team prior to your visit.
Tickets Request Policy for Members of the Press
Members of the press not working on an assignment pertaining to the aquarium, and their immediate family, are qualified for a media discounted ticket price. For more information or to receive this discount, please email/call a member of our public relations department in advance of your planned visit date.
