The enchanted islands
On this 10-day exploration of six islands, you’ll snorkel among sea turtles, marine iguanas, sea lions and possibly even penguins, walk among blue-footed boobies and, of course, hike to the highlands to visit the famous tortoises. You’ll see more at the Charles Darwin Research Station.

Apr. 19 — Fly independently to Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Apr. 20 — Fly to Galapagos and hike along Whaler Bay,
Apr. 21 — Swim and snorkel among sea turtles and penguins at the heart of a sunken volcano
Apr. 22 — Hike at the base of the Alcedo Volcano. Snorkel and swim after looking for penguins.
Apr. 23 — Hike to the top of a dormant volcano or go for a ride around the cliffs. Swim and snorkel with sea lions and hike across Sullivan Bay.
Apr. 24 — Stroll along Bachas Beach and snorkel where sea turtles nest.
Apr. 25 — Visit the Charles Darwin Research Station and head into the forested highlands.
Apr. 26 — Enjoy a Zodiac ride, then wade to Punta Suarez through a sea lion colony.
Apr. 27 — Return to San Cristóbal, then fly to Guayaquil.

Meet Cheryl Mell, your Shedd Aquarium guide
Cheryl Mell, Shedd’s senior vice president of global field expeditions and conservation ambassador, is no stranger to the Galapagos Islands. An avid scuba diver, snorkeler and kayaker, she’s visited all seven continents and has a keen interest in aquatic conservation. Since joining Shedd in 1991, Cheryl has successfully grown Shedd’s conservation, sustainability and educational programs through professional development seminars and hands-on workshops. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology and marine science, as well as a Master of Science in Education degree, from the University of Miami, Florida. She’s passionate about inspiring greater stewardship of the natural world and is looking forward to sharing this passion with you!
