Human Resources and Recruiting Internship

The Human Resource intern will gain generalist exposure while working closely with the HR team to assist with aspects of recruiting and on-boarding, terminations, benefits administration and other duties and projects as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to Shedd’s vision, mission and values.
  • Assist with New Employee Orientation
  • Assist with other special projects such as revising job descriptions, seasonal hiring, employee handbook (reviewing policies, updates and additions), researching new ATS options for implementation and Veteran hiring.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

A desired candidate would be able to multi-task, think creatively, have a strong attention to detail, and be able to work independently. An interest in learning about Human Resources in a non-profit organization; experience or interest in zoos/aquariums is a plus. Must maintain confidentiality, and previous office experience and/or relevant internships strongly preferred.

Desired year in school: Currently enrolled college level Junior/Senior/Recent Graduate

Desired Majors: Business, HR or any Social Sciences major preferred, but not required.

Time Commitment: The candidate should be available two to three days a week; for approximately 15 hours weekly. The intern would base their hours around their class schedule and availability.
