Veterans Garden Spring Planting Event

In fall of 2015, Shedd honored Chicago-area veterans by creating a new garden just for them. We invited veterans, along with Gold Star mothers, to help us install 30,000 bulbs that bloomed in the spring. The result was beautiful. For summer, red, white and blue annuals were planted with the assistance of another group of vets and other volunteers.

Now it’s time to plant for summer 2017! Pizza and soft drinks will be served for participants. Plus, you don’t have to be a veteran to participate. Simply join us for a day in the garden honoring our veterans. Two shifts will be available for volunteers: 9 a.m.–noon or 1-4 p.m. You’ll have time mingle with other volunteers on Shedd’s terrace overlooking Lake Michigan.
