Shedd’s conservation work extends from its home in the Great Lakes basin to aquatic ecosystems around the world. Our commitment to conserving the species in our care also means protecting their counterparts in the wild and the habitats they depend on.
In fact, behind many of the exhibits that you see, we have scientists working in the field. They’re conducting innovative research that applies the decades of expertise we have caring for seahorses, iguanas and other animals in our collection. Our researchers’ hands-on knowledge of animal husbandry, health and behavior makes them valued partners in collaborative efforts, too.
