  • Nunavik Turns 1

    Join us as we celebrate beluga calf Nunavik’s first birthday on Tuesday, Dec. 14. Although every day appears to be a party for this happy little whale, we’ll make his birthday special for him at 10:25 a.m., just before the first Holiday Fantasea show, with a fish-decorated cake and a serenade of “Happy Birthday” by aquarium guests.

    “Anteroom” is a funny name for the area that senior aquarist Dan Lorbeske and I have just entered.  We’re about to go into Shedd’s arthropod containment facility, better known as the bug room.

  • Fish of the Month - Dungeness crab

    As sub-zero weather roars through Chicago, the Right Bite team cannot think of anything more comforting than a warm bowl of Dungeness crab bisque. With a name like Dungeness, this crustacean must be out of the ordinary!
