    You have to look closely to spot Shedd’s newest arrival, a rockhopper penguin (Eudyptes chrysocome) that hatched June 9. Parents Annie and Edward chose a cozy nesting nook just left of center and up a big rock step in Polar Play Zone’s penguin habitat to raise their chick.

  • Amazing Times in the Maritimes with Shedd

    I am very excited that in late summer, I will lead a Shedd Adventures trip to Canada’s Maritime Provinces, always one of my “someday places.” Canada, with its clean northern air, cool temperatures and gorgeous sky, is a special place to me.

  • How I Care for Granddad

    Millions of Shedd Aquarium visitors have been able to appreciate Granddad over the last 82 years, and it’s a privilege to care for an animal that has been a part of so many guests’ Shedd experience. By providing him with the consistent, high-level care that all Shedd animals receive, I hope to work with Granddad for many years to come.
