Auxiliary Society Mission
The Auxiliary Society of the John G. Shedd Aquarium is comprised of young professionals committed to developing new sources of support and increasing public awareness of the aquarium’s exhibits, research and conservation and education programs. Auxiliary Society members are dedicated to the public understanding and respect for the world’s seas, rivers and lakes and the pivotal role aquatic life plays in the health of the environment.

Auxiliary Society Events
The Auxiliary Society has demonstrated its commitment to increasing awareness of Shedd’s exhibits and programs with its highly anticipated annual events. Below, are some of the upcoming events and ways to get involved:
Spring Break Party: This is a casual event, which encourages young Chicagoans to think of the hopeful arrival of summer, features themed drinks and an evening of dancing and socializing. This year’s event was held on March 7.
Blu: This annual fundraiser will take place on Saturday, July 26 in concurrence with Venetian Night – the wildly popular lighted boat parade that draws thousands to the shore of Lake Michigan every year. The breathtaking view of the lake from Shedd’s North Terrace will provide an unparalleled opportunity to enjoy this favorite Chicago summer event while raising funds to support the aquarium.
Right Bite Dinner Series: Shedd Aquarium has partnered with some of the Chicago area’s most renowned restaurants for a dinner series where you will learn how your seafood choices can help protect our environment while enjoying extraordinary cuisine. Right Bite, Shedd Aquarium’s sustainable seafood awareness program, educates consumers about seafood that is good to eat and good for our oceans too.
