What is BLU?

BLU is Shedd Aquarium’s ode to saving our Great Lakes, celebrated in tandem with one of Chicago’s most popular lakefront events, Venetian Night. BLU is a celebration with a conscience, promoting a green lifestyle and care of our majestic Lake Michigan. It’s Shedd’s mission embodied in a shade that signifies water and connotes everything crisp, clean and refreshing.

Your ticket purchase to BLU supports Shedd Aquarium’s Great Lakes Conservation Awareness Initiative. The Great Lakes initiative aims to increase public understanding about our Great Lakes and to inspire people to take positive actions to help preserve and protect these amazing, but vulnerable, natural resources. Shedd Aquarium is acting on its responsibility to educate the public about the threats facing the Great Lakes and providing necessary tools to take action.

An evening of enchantment
7 o’clock: Sip cocktails and sample a delectable display of delicious fare while getting eye-to-eye with regal rays, green sea turtles, and other majestic inhabitants of the Caribbean Reef.

8 o’clock: Enjoy the magnificent twinkling lights of decorated boats in the harbor and spectacular Venetian Night fireworks on the north terrace.

10 o’clock: Retreat back into the aquarium for cocktails, desserts, and a special BLU performance by one of Chicago’s premier theater groups.

Midnight: Head home with BLU delights to help you live a green lifestyle.

Attire
Attire is summer dressy, fun, and festive. Light and breezy summer dresses are what the ladies will be wearing and men will be spotted in casual sport coats and slacks.

Tickets
Tickets are $125 and can be purchased here. For group rates, please call 312-692-3363. Admission includes the best seat in the house for Venetian Night festivities, cocktails, light appetizers, and entertainment. Participants must be 21 or older.

Directions and Parking
On-site parking at Soldier Field’s North Garage is available for a nominal fee. Due to the high volume of lakefront traffic during Venetian Night, we highly recommend taking public transportation or walking to and from the event.
