Manages Great Lakes Awareness Campaign marketing, promotions and public-relations efforts using communication skills and problem-solving techniques in the areas of strategic marketing and public-relations planning and implementation. Works with marketing and public relations directors and teams, and with conservation leadership in setting strategic direction. Works closely with Shedd marketing and PR directors and their staff to set strategic goals for the awareness campaign. Responsible for leading and utilizing a team of field coordinators to achieve program marketing and PR goals. Develops and maintains expertise on Great Lakes issues and messaging, and works closely with the Marketing and Public Relations Department to coordinate awareness efforts. In addition, is responsible for building, maintaining and strengthening key relationships in targeted markets throughout the Great Lakes region.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field. Minimum of three to five years in marketing, public relations, or communications-related field, particularly social or cause-related marketing experience. Environmental issues-based communications or campaign experience a plus. Knowledge of the issues facing the Great Lakes desired. Must have excellent written, oral and public-speaking communication skills. Commitment to excellence. Awareness of and interest in local, national and international conservation issues and topics desired. Experience with strategic planning, project management and team participation. Must have passion for Great Lakes and animals. Able to work flexible hours, travel and be “on call.” Must thrive in a team environment. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
