Coordinates program preparation and delivery including content development, event planning, workshop facilitation and evaluation for Shedd's sustainable seafood awareness program, Right Bite. Develops and fosters strategic partnerships and relationships with colleagues in other organizations and industries involved in the sustainable seafood movement. Develops, updates and maintains print, training and Web materials for Right Bite. Updates and maintains Right Bite program database. Scans, researches and shares latest news and developments pertaining to sustainable seafood. Performs other conservation-related duties as required, including resource organization and management. Participates in strategic planning and assists with other projects as required, including aquariumwide teams.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with major in biology, environmental science, education, or related field. Three years of similar or related experience also required. Excellent written, oral and public communication skills. Excellent leadership qualities, self-starter, and organizational skills. Awareness of current, local, national and international conservation issues and topics with ability to effectively and clearly communicate them to various audiences. Must have vehicle and valid driver’s license, insurance and willingness to travel to outreach sites. Computer skills required, including Microsoft Office suite. Must be able to do moderate lifting to transport equipment and material to sites. Ability to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends. Position requires close proximity to seafood and shellfish.
