Family Fishing Outing

Fishing is an excellent way to connect with nature as well as with friends and family. Join Shedd’s staff anglers for an introduction to fishing at Northerly Island, a 91-acre nature park on Chicago’s Museum Campus. Cast a line, play games and create memories with your family to connect with the local environment and develop a skill to enjoy for years to come. If you would like to continue your exploration after the program, visit the Local Waters exhibit to see more fishes and other animals that can be found in the Chicago region.

This program is designed for families with children 8 years old and up.

Saturday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. – noon
$25 a person ($15 for members)

Polar Play Family Breakfasts

See a penguin, meet a penguin, be a penguin! You can do it all – and more – during Shedd’s new Polar Play Family Breakfast. Enjoy a continental breakfast, then parade like a penguin to the 4-D theater to meet a live penguin and talk to a trainer. Next, sit back for a private screening of the new 12-minute Happy Feet 4-D Experience. You’ll be inspired to dance your way to Polar Play Zone to explore the touch pool and penguin playscape and enjoy a morning of interactive penguin games before the exhibit opens to the public. The whole family can learn how to raise a penguin chick and do a penguin behavior study, just like a trainer! First in a series of exclusive breakfast programs, this also includes a free family photo, a free activity packet filled with pre- and post-visit activities, admission to the aquarium and reserved seats to Shedd’s new aquatic show, Fantasea – where you’ll see more penguins! Hop, don’t waddle, to make your reservations now!
