Implements educational activities, specifically chats, animal encounters, science demonstrations, aquatic activities, presentations, marine mammal pre-shows and other educational programs that connect Shedd’s guests to the exhibits and collections. Codevelops and prototypes floor programs and educational techniques as assigned. Attends educational and customer-service training workshops as scheduled. Demonstrates continued growth in content knowledge and increased aptitude in program delivery. Works closely with education coordinators to set personal goals, hone skills and provide/receive feedback about growth and progress. Works with other education pods and volunteers as needed or assigned. Assists in training new hires and volunteers by modeling effective educational techniques and program delivery methods as assigned. Works closely with interpretation coordinator to coach and train new and developing interpreters. Serves on interdepartmental teams and implements other duties as needed or assigned.
Requirements:
Pursuing degree in education or related science field. Minimum one year preferred in education or related science field. Must be able to display enthusiasm and have excellent public-speaking skills and science teaching aptitude. Must maintain an active schedule throughout the day. Working weekends may be required.
