Shedd Aquarium Facility Leader Awarded Industry's Top National Honor, Facility Executive of the Year
Shedd Aquarium’s vice president of facilities, Bob Wengel, has been named the 2012 Facility Executive of the Year by Today’s Facility Manager, a leading specialized trade publication for the nation’s top corporate facility executives in all industry and service sectors. Recognizing his integral role and oversight of the aquarium’s five-year facility plan, the award applauds Wengel’s success integrating sustainability into the aquarium’s overall daily operations.

Shedd Aquarium Rescues Sea Otter Pup
Shedd Aquarium, a national leader in sea otter rehabilitation, announced today that it has acquired a 10-week-old orphaned southern sea otter pup (Enhydra lutris nereis) from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) as part of the conservation effort for the threatened population in California.

Shedd Aquarium to Close on Jan. 23-24
January 18, 2012 - Shedd Aquarium will be closed on Monday, Jan. 23 through Tuesday, Jan. 24, for routine maintenance and cleaning. Shedd Aquarium will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 25 with Illinois Residents Discount/Free General Admission Week, sponsored by Ford Motor Company Fund, the philanthropic arm of the Ford Motor Company, through Saturday, Jan. 28.
