Staff host

Ken RamirezKen Ramirez is among whales, dolphins and other marine mammals every day as Shedd’s executive vice president of animal care and training. Ken is a biologist and animal behaviorist with more than 35 years of experience in zoological animal care. He came to Shedd in 1989 to manage the training and husbandry programs for the marine mammals and other animals that would live in the Abbott Oceanarium, which opened in 1991. Ken’s expertise extends to marine mammals in the wild, and he has taken part in dramatic wildlife rescues in the United States and Canada.

Important information about this trip
Our ship’s intimate size gives us access to secluded passages, coves and wilderness areas, allowing for spontaneity and the ability to take advantage of opportunities as they arise. A day’s schedule may change to improve your experience when wildlife presents itself or there is an added desire to explore an area beyond a certain period of time. Your captain and expedition leader will keep you informed of any changes.

Getting there and getting home
