Seahorse biologists observe seahorses and also collect them to record important information about them including size, weight, sex, and species. They make sure to release the seahorses at the same point that they were collected. The information collected by the researchers helps us understand the ways humans affect seahorses as well as the ways to better protect them.

Some species of Philippines seahorse are nocturnal, making it necessary for seahorse biologists and fishers to work at night. This fisher is diving to retrieve seahorses from a shallow seagrass bed.
