Positions are available for individuals who love to learn and want to interact with a diverse group of aquarium guests. Guest Engagement volunteers receive extensive training that enables them to share stories about our animals and enhance the guest experience.
We are currently accepting applications for Exhibit Interpreters.
As an exhibit interpreter you will spark curiosity, compassion and conservation for the aquatic animal world with Shedd’s diverse guests!
- Share amazing animal stories in exhibits,
- Connect guests to animals at touch pool habitats and
- Inspire conservation through hands-on activities.
Responsibilities include promoting self-discovery, engaging guests with relevant animal information and providing great customer service for audiences of various backgrounds.
Training and Onboarding:
Successful applicants who complete the general on-boarding process will receive additional, specialized training from Guest Engagement staff. See our "FAQs" for the general volunteer on-boarding process.
Guest Engagement volunteers must attend two additional trainings, which are offered on a monthly basis. Trainings occur on Saturdays or Sundays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Please note: Please apply no later than one month prior to training to allow time for interviews and on-boarding.
