Join us in sparking compassion, curiosity, and conservation in the next generation of learners. Our Learning Programs volunteers receive training that enables them to assist school group audiences with Learning Labs and Science Tech Treks.

Science Tech Treks Volunteer
Lead students as they participate in dynamic exhibit-based learning opportunities. Volunteers will present learning experience orientations, assist in iPad learning activities, and share information about our animals and exhibits. You’ll also help Learning staff members with logistical needs as groups navigate the building and learn more about the natural world. No technology experience required, and all training will be provided!

Learning Lab Volunteer
Inspire student interest in animals and science during classroom based activities that explore ecology, anatomy, and pathology. Volunteers help prepare Shedd classrooms, welcome participants, and act as a friendly resource. You’ll also help Learning staff members with logistical needs as groups navigate the building and learn more about the natural world. No previous experience needed, and all training will be provided.

18+

Shift times

Science Tech Treks: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Tuesday-Friday

Learning Lab: 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday-Friday

Commitment

One shift per week for one school year (August-June)
