Water Quality Lab Volunteers

Test the waters and help ensure a healthy environment for Shedd's animal collection. Every day we analyze samples from around the aquarium, and this role is ideal for those interested in the scientific aspects of Shedd. Volunteers perform wet chemical analysis of samples, clean lab equipment and glassware, and record data for distribution to staff. Learn about how we keep our aquatic residents comfortable while working alongside other volunteers and staff members.

A minimum of High School A.P. chemistry coursework is required, and additional college chemistry coursework or professional experience is helpful. Familiarity with basic aquarium water parameters and tests is also helpful.
