Katrl and Kukdlaa

Shedd Aquarium welcomed a Pacific white-sided dolphin calf to the family at 9:14 a.m. on April 18. This was the first pregnancy for Katrl, and both calf and mom appear to be doing well. Shortly after the birth, the calf swam to the surface, took his first breath, and began to swim and bond with his mother.

Since then, Katrl and the calf, named Kukdlaa ("Bubbles" in the Tlingit language) on July 13, have done great hitting their critical milestones. Visit them soon!
