Andrea Rodgers drives public relations and government relations strategies that advance Shedd’s mission of sparking compassion, curiosity and conservation for the aquatic animal world

Andrea Rodgers provides strategic oversight and leadership of Shedd Aquarium’s External Affairs and Communications division, driving public relations and government relations strategies that support and advance the organization’s mission to spark compassion, curiosity and conservation for the aquatic animal world. A member of the aquarium’s senior leadership team, she contributes to institutional strategic planning and priority initiatives, and is responsible for all media relations, internal communications, influencer relations, issues and reputation management, crisis communications and government affairs efforts on behalf of the aquarium.

Before joining Shedd in 2011, Rodgers served as director of marketing and public relations for the law firm of Mitchell Williams Selig Gates & Woodyard, PLLC where she designed and executed all strategic marketing, public relations, business development, community relations and client service initiatives. Previously, she was a senior public relations manager for Acxiom and the associate director of public relations for full-service agency Stone Ward, where she specialized in media relations campaigns, employee engagement, public communications and strategic planning.

Rodgers is an active member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and a past-chair of the Public Relations Committee. She is also a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) where she has served in numerous roles, including chapter president, accreditation chair, national assembly delegate and Southwest District board member.

Over the last decade, Rodgers has earned best-in-practice honors as the recipient of numerous industry awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Publicity Club of Chicago (PCC), and Legal Marketing Association in addition to serving as a conference presenter for AZA and other various organizations.

Rodgers holds the Accredited in Public Relations (APR) designation for excellence in the principles and strategies of public relations.
