The Pod Poll 2019: Name Shedd Aquarium’s Baby Beluga

On July 3, Shedd Aquarium celebrated the birth of a healthy male beluga whale. The calf is growing steadily, and both he and mom Mauyak continue to do well under the watchful eyes of trainers and the animal health team. Now, after nearly 20,000 votes cast to name the new calf, the winning selection is Annik (AH-nik) which means “blizzard” in the language of the Inuit.
