We invite you to join us on a collaborative citizen science diving opportunity aboard Shedd’s research vessel, the R/V Coral Reef II. Under the direction of Shedd’s experts, you’ll participate in surveys of reef fishes and corals, data from which will inform sustainable management practices and ensure healthy reefs. Be prepared to spend a lot of your day underwater! As an active member of a team of research biologists and animal care experts, you will learn about marine biology, fish identification and research survey techniques. Although our primary goal is to assess fish populations on coral reefs, we also look for opportunities to enjoy the sun, sand and salt water, squeezing in time for a fun dive or two, as mission and weather allow. We hope you will join us on this diving adventure to conserve the aquatic realm! Scuba certification and experience are required for this expedition.
To apply for this expedition, please send your contact information, along with a summary of related experience/skills, to Hilary Wind at [email protected].
