Conservation & Research

At Shedd, we have a deep sense of responsibility to conserve wildlife, now and long into the future.

Scientists from Shedd’s Daniel P. Haerther Center for Conservation and Research conduct research to better understand wild animals and their habitats, in order to inform management strategies to protect them. Our studies are focused in the Great Lakes region and the Caribbean region. But you don’t need waders, scuba gear, or data sheets to be a conservationist. Shedd’s conservation and sustainability programs also invite guests and citizen scientists from all walks of life to get informed and get involved to make a difference for animals.
