Who can attend

This program is designed for members of Scouting America in grades 6-12; however, non-Scouts are welcome to participate!

A limited capacity of adults are invited to observe parts of the program. Participants may also be dropped off. While adults are welcome to attend, it is in an observational capacity only. Due to capacity limitations in certain spaces, adults may not be able to observe some sections of the workshop.

Prerequisites

Please complete requirements #1 - 6 and 9 as listed in the Scouting America Merit Badge Book. Please bring all work related to these prerequisites to the workshop day. Requirements #7 - 8 will be completed during the workshop. Shedd educators, who are also Scouting America approved merit badge counselors, will be on hand to sign blue cards.

Drop-off and pick-up

Drop-off takes place from 9:30 a.m. - 10 a.m. Pick-up takes place from 12:30 - 1 p.m.

  • Meals and snacks are not included.
  • General admission to the aquarium is not included.

What do adults do during the program? 

Adults have several options for participating in this program!

If you wish to drop off your scout and pick them up after the program, you may do so without purchasing an adult ticket.

If you would like to observe the program, you may do so by purchasing an adult ticket as an add-on to this order. You will be prompted to do so as you make payment. To add more than one adult to your order, please call 312-939-2438 after your purchase. Please note that a limited capacity of adult tickets are available. 

If you would like to explore the aquarium while your scout is earning their merit badge, you can purchase aquarium admission for yourself and others in your party. You can purchase tickets online (recommended) or you can purchase tickets in person once you arrive at the aquarium.

Accessibility

Program includes

  • Use of stairs; elevators are available
  • Moving around the aquarium for up to 1 hour
  • Moving around the aquarium, which has varying light, noise and temperature levels

Refunds and Cancellations

No refunds will be issued unless Shedd Aquarium cancels the program. Shedd Aquarium reserves the right to cancel the event for any reason. If your event is canceled, you will be informed by phone as soon as possible. In the event of a cancellation, you will receive a full refund within 30 days, based on your original method of payment.
