Welcome to Shedd Aquarium! We can hardly wait for you to meet beluga whales and bluegills, rockhopper penguins and rockfish and so much more as you explore the world’s oceans, lakes, rivers and reefs — all in the heart of Chicago!
1. Take the Must See Tour
Experience the best of Shedd on this 75-minute, Must See guided tour.
Spot our green sea turtle, Nickel, in Caribbean Reef and learn her rescue story. Sit in the best seats in the house for an Animal Spotlight, and afterwards chat with an animal care expert. (The only way to guarantee seats on busier days!)
2. Jazzin' is back! Toast the return of live music with a drink on our terrace
Great music, the city skyline, fireworks and live animals—all come together here, like the best summer cocktail. As the sun goes down and the music heats up, relax with a drink on our breezy terrace or experience the unbelievable animals that live here.
Did you know you can also meet the penguins and enhance your night of fun? After hours Penguin Encounters are offered at 5:30 p.m. during all Jazzin' events this summer.

In late July, we are premiering a new Oceanarium experience. Join us on your next visit and take a sneak peek at what we're planning for you!

Plan a special date for the one you love and visit us during off peak hours during the week. Will you see penguin pairs preening or seahorses holding tails? The aquatic world is full of magical moments!

Get right next to the action during this 30-minute experience. Discover what makes these birds so amazing! During this Extraordinary Experience you may see the penguin explore, preen, play with toys, perch or even snack on a fish.
