Shedd Aquarium Names Brian Gill Senior Director of Government Affairs and Policy

Brian Gill has joined Shedd Aquarium as senior director of government affairs and policy. In this role, Gill will lead the aquarium’s efforts to advance climate, biodiversity and environmental education policy goals, as well as work with government stakeholders at the local, state and federal levels.
Gill began his career on political campaigns and in federal government, serving first as a legislative assistant in the White House Office of Management and Budget and later as a special assistant at the United States Department of Defense. In the years that followed, Gill demonstrated success in managerial and consultant roles, supporting a diverse lineup of functions, including community engagement, business development, staff recruitment and retention, and campaign direction.
In his most recent role, Gill acted as the Federal Policy Director for the Illinois Environmental Council (IEC), where he led the organization’s efforts to engage in environmental policy at the federal level. This work consisted of advocating for strong environmental and clean energy legislation and regulations at the federal level, building relationships with the Illinois Congressional Delegation, federal officials, and national groups, planning and executing events with government officials, and conducting interviews with media.
Gill holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Colorado.
