Shedd Aquarium is shifting its hours through the end of the year to meet the needs of guests. In November and December, the aquarium will be open:

  • Non-holiday Mondays–Thursdays: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Fridays: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturdays–Sundays: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Shedd will also adjust operation hours on traditionally well-attended weeks, like the weeks of Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

  • Thanksgiving Week:
  • Monday-Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Thursday: Closed
  • Friday and Saturday: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Christmas Week:
  • Monday-Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Thursday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Friday: Closed
  • Monday- Thursday (following week): 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

As temperatures get colder, the aquarium offers guests an escape into several exotic habitats from across the globe, all in one building. Guests can see vibrant corals and patrolling sharks in the depths of a Filipino reef system of Wild Reef or watch a slithering anaconda in the humid Amazon Rising exhibit. 4-D films have also returned to the aquarium, creating another exhilarating and immersive experience that guests can add to their visit.

Shedd has also adopted several stringent measures to help ensure that a visit remains safe and fun for everyone. The aquarium’s restaurants are temporarily closed starting Friday, Oct. 30. More details about these policies and procedures can be found on the aquarium’s website.
