Projecto 7
Projecto 7 is an Elgin-based Salsa-Latin Jazz band. The band specializes in dancing rhythms from Puerto Rico, Cuba, Santo Domingo and some Central and South America rhythms including salsa, merengue, cumbia, bolero, mambo, rumbas and Latin Jazz with standard American-Jazz rhythms in "Salsa" styles. Because of this versatility, Projecto 7 brings the best of its history and experiences in Salsa music from the 70’s, 80’s, and from the era of Fania, Willie Colon, Hector La Voe, Tito Puente, and many more famous artists that have made this type of genre what it is today. Salsa is an internationally known genre which is thriving and will be around for years to come!
Carpacho y Su Super Combo
Roberto Carpacho Marin is a Chicago-based musician originally from Medellin, Colombia. Mr. Marin is an expert in tropical rhythms including Latin Jazz, salsa, merengue, cumbia, Bossa Nova and bolero. He founded his band Carpacho and His Super Combo in 1986 with musicians from various Latin American countries in order to create a fusion of different sounds while maintaining authenticity. Mr. Marin has performed at the inaugurations of Mayor Harold Washington and Mayor Richard M. Daley, Jr., The Ethnic Arts Festival of Evanston, Summer Dance Chicago, Beer Garden at Navy Pier Chicago, Taste of Chicago, Colombian Independence Day festival in Chicago, Sangria Festival in Chicago, Latino Festival of Rockford, LakeFront Festival of Waukegan, Brat Fest in Madison Wisconsin, Saengerfest ‘99 of Blue Island in Illinois, Fiesta Hispanic Casa de la Amistad in South Bend, Indiana, Purdue University Indiana, Flower Ball in Atlanta, Georgia and Ibero-American Cultural Festival in Cuba. He has played with international groups and singers such as El Gran Combo, Andy Montanez, Oscar de Leon, Jose Feliciano, Eddy Santiago, Grupo Niche, La Sonora Tropical and Jerry Galante.
The Band is the official Band of La Havana Madrid, a Musical play directed by Sandra Delgado for four runs and also the Latin Band for the Chicago Children's Choir Canto Latino for the neighborhood schools directed by Danny Wallenberg.
Mr. Marin currently performs regularly in the Chicagoland area.
