Teacher Workshop: Bringing Local Ecosystems to Life

A blandings turtle is released into a pond in the wild.

Are you ready to inspire and help build the next generation of environmental champions? It begins right in your own backyard!

Educators will meet and learn about the aquatic animals who might live in their neighborhoods here at Shedd. They’ll also learn about Shedd conservation scientists conducting research to better understand Chicago’s wildlife. This interactive learning experience will provide educators with ideas, resources and strategies to help them bring local ecosystems to life for their students. Together we will explore the role of informed empathy and connecting to local wildlife as a strategy for developing environmental advocates.
