Another Chicago summer is just around the corner, and we want to celebrate the arrival of those warm, sunny days with you! Kick off the season with Shedd Aquarium at an exclusive Members Jazzin’ on Wednesday, May 27.
Move to the music of Lake Effect and Rio Bamba, two of Chicago’s favorite jazz ensembles, while exploring the aquarium after hours with a cocktail (or soft drink) in hand.
This members-only event is open to guests of all ages.
Members are invited to bring additional guests to join in the fun at a discounted rate of $19.95 as capacity allows.
Schedule
6 p.m. - Event begins. Enjoy music from Rio Bamba in Whale Harbor and Lake Effect in the Grand Hall throughout the evening.
6-6:30 p.m. - Meet an ambassador animal by the main entrance
6-7:30 p.m. - Visit Stingray Touch on the South Terrace
6-9 p.m. - Dinner available in Soundings Café or Bubble Net
6:45-8:30 p.m. - Movies will play periodically in the 4-D Theater
7-7:30 p.m. - Meet an ambassador animal in the north lobby
9 p.m. - Watch the Navy Pier fireworks from Bubble Net or the Lakeside Terrace
9 p.m. - Last entry
10 p.m. - Event end

Rio Bamba:
The Rio Bamba sound is a unique blend of bossa nova, samba, American jazz and Latin jazz, played by world-class musicians. The group moves easily from classic and swinging jazz, vocal or instrumental to a Brazilian samba that brings everyone to the dance floor.
Lake Effect:
Guitarist Bob Davis and keyboardist Neil Artwick have been playing together with their group, Lake Effect, for 20 years. Over the course of their careers, they have released two CDs, “Pandora” and “CD Baby.” Bob and Neil are joined by Larry Beers on drums, serving up R&B, Latin and soul.
Food will be available for purchase in Soundings Cafe and Bubble Net until at least 9:00 p.m. Outside food and beverage are not permitted. Last call is at 9:30 p.m.
